A Logical Framework for Querying

چکیده
We address the issue of designing e ective query languages for OLAP databases. The basis of our investigation is MD, a logical data model for multidimensional databases that, unlike other multidimensional models, is independent of any speci c implementation. As such, MD provides a clear separation between practical and conceptual aspects of multidimensional analysis. In this framework, we present and compare various OLAP query languages, based on di erent paradigms suitable for distinct users.

Developing a BIM-based Spatial Ontology for Semantic Querying of 3D Property Information
With the growing dominance of complex and multi-level urban structures, current cadastral systems, which are often developed based on 2D representations, are not capable of providing unambiguous spatial information about urban properties. Therefore, the concept of 3D cadastre is proposed to support 3D digital representation of land and properties and facilitate the communication of legal owners...
متن کاملQuerying Class-Relationship Logic in a Metalogic Framework
We introduce a class relationship logic for stating various forms of logical relationships between classes. This logic is intended for ontologies and knowledge bases and combinations thereof. Reasoning and querying is conducted in the Datalog logical language, which serves as an embracing decidable and tractable metalogic.
متن کاملQuerying with Intrinsic Preferences
The handling of user preferences is becoming an increasingly important issue in present-day information systems. Among others, preferences are used for information filtering and extraction to reduce the volume of data presented to the user. They are also used to keep track of user profiles and formulate policies to improve and automate decision making. We propose a logical framework for formula...
متن کاملProfiling Sets for Preference Querying
We propose a logical framework for set preferences. Candidate sets are represented using profiles consisting of scalar features. This reduces set preferences to tuple preferences over set profiles. We also give a heuristic algorithm for the computation of the “best” sets.
متن کاملPreferences for Queries in a Mediator Approach
The problem of integrating relevant information obtained from multiple heterogeneous sources is a complex task, with which biologists are now faced. In this paper, we address the problem of querying biomedical databases in a mediator context. We propose to exploit the metadata of the sources to take into account user preferences. The mediator system we present is designed within a tractable log...
